I was preparing lunch today. Two slices of wheat bread, mayonnaise, gouda cheese and oven-roasted chicken slices. As an experiment, I tried some garlic seasoning and toasted it in the toaster oven.
I was genuinely excited to use the toaster oven for the first time today.
I pondered about whether I was being too silly.
That's when it came back to me and what I feel many people forget. Take pleasure in little things. I noticed almost for the first time how I myself take pleasure in such little and seemingly trivial things. I always admired this quality in others but for some reason, I had never questioned whether I had that quality. There was no need for that question, it seems. And perhaps, that's why it was never asked.
Ah, the joy. For now, unfortunately, my chicken pot pie seems to be burnt. I really don't know if there's any joy in this episode!
